Softball Recap: Platte Valley Find Success + How To Watch

Platte Valley hadn't done well against Wray/Yuma recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Broncos narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Eagles 8-7. For the Broncos, this counts as revenge for the 17-4 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Platte Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Jessop, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Danica Fosket also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Platte Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Wray/Yuma, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

The future could be bright for both Platte Valley and Wray/Yuma: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Broncos will try to hand Basalt their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wray/Yuma will look to extend Lamar's three-game losing streak when they meet at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
