Basketball Recap: Polytechnic Takes a Loss

Polytechnic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Armens. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Polytechnic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Areni Ohanian posted 11 points along with eight boards and six steals. Maggie Scholze was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Holy Martyrs Armenian, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-7.

Polytechnic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Flintridge Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Holy Martyrs Armenian also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
