Softball Recap: Peach County Falls to Northside in First Game of Season

Peach County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Northside Patriots on Thursday, falling 11-1.

Shaniyah Gibson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off two hits. Gibson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Gibson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Saniya Martin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Coming up, Peach County will welcome Rutland at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northside, they will head out to square off against Veterans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
