Basketball Recap: La Quinta Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sophie Barrow and Leahnette Castro-Galarza

La Quinta lost against Coachella Valley last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The La Quinta Blackhawks took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leahnette Castro-Galarza and Sophie Barrow certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Castro-Galarza posted 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Barrow earned seven points along with 15 boards and five assists. Castro-Galarza is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Alvarez-Ladd, who had seven points and six steals.

La Quinta now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Coachella Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

La Quinta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-27 victory against Lakeside on the 28th. As for Coachella Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-48 defeat against Stevenson on the 28th.
