Baseball Game Preview: Terrell Academy Eagles vs. Valwood Valiants

The Terrell Academy Eagles will take on the Valwood Valiants at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Terrell Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, Terrell Academy came up short against Valwood and fell 7-3.

For Valwood's part, Colson Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dustin Gibbs, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dywan Powell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Valwood's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Terrell Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
