Volleyball Recap: Mccurdy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If McCurdy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Coronado on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats fell 3-1 to the Oak Grove Classical Academy Owls on Tuesday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While McCurdy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19.

Oak Grove Classical Academy found their leader in freshman Lexee Schroeder, who had five digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Schroeder. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sorenson, who had 23 digs and two aces.

McCurdy's loss ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Coming up, McCurdy will square off against Sandia Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Santa Rosa on the 25th.
