Football Recap: Hazleton Area Comes Up Short

Hazleton Area had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it ten. They were outmatched by the Pittston Patriots and fell 49-13. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Pittston, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Considering they have won five contests by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Pittston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Lo Presto, who picked up 123 receiving yards, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Another rusher making a difference was Kayden Bailey, who rushed for 85 yards and one TD.

Coming up, Hazleton Area will challenge Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pittston, they will square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
