Baseball Recap: Westside's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Westside's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Silver Bluff Bulldogs, sneaking past 9-7. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Hunter Barrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Westside is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tristan Williamson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Westside's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Robert Sullivan, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Westside's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Silver Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Westside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Harlem on the 21st. As for Silver Bluff, they have also already played their next game, a 17-0 victory against Keenan on the 21st.
