Basketball Recap: Etna Takes a Loss

Etna was the 59-32 winner over Burney when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Etna Lions lost 50-30 to the Burney Raiders on Tuesday.

Burney found their leader in freshman Aaliyah Perez, who posted 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Perez. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Witzel, who put up nine points and six boards.

Etna's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Burney, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Etna will be playing at home against Pyramid Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Pyramid Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Burney, they will take on Plumas Charter in a tournament on Thursday. Burney is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.
