Soccer Game Preview: San Leandro vs. Berkeley

San Leandro is 1-9 against Berkeley since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

San Leandro is leaving town to face Berkeley after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Pirates lost 6-2 to Alameda on Tuesday. The matchup was a close 3-2 at the break, but unfortunately for San Leandro it sure didn't stay that way.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Berkeley after they claimed the first goal on Thursday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of Alhambra by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Berkeley couldn't push the score so high this time.

Their goal came courtesy of Micaela Bedolla Garcia, who's now up to two this season.

San Leandro might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Berkeley when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
