Baseball Game Preview: Wethersfield Eagles vs. Platt Panthers

The Wethersfield Eagles will head out to square off against the Platt Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wethersfield came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Southington, falling 16-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 10, 2025.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Platt and Maloney had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers fell 3-0 to the Spartans on Friday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Platt got a good showing from Devyn Page, who struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Platt saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vance Romano, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Platt's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11-1. As for Wethersfield, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Wethersfield couldn't quite finish off Platt in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
