Basketball Recap: Brianna Franco and Audrey Yoo Secure Win for Chino Hills

Chino Hills's tournament run continued when they took on Costa Mesa on Friday. The Chino Hills Huskies put the hurt on the Costa Mesa Mustangs with a sharp 58-35 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Leading Chino Hills to victory were Audrey Yoo and Brianna Franco. Yoo went 6 for 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and five steals, while Franco dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Franco is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Promise Clark, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

Chino Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Costa Mesa's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Terry, who had eight points and six rebounds. Leilani Quero was another key player, putting up eight points.

Chino Hills' win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Costa Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Chino Hills will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Los Osos at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Costa Mesa, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-42 victory against Eisenhower on the 28th.
