Basketball Recap: Hickory Falls Despite Big Games from Ellie Ference and Kimora Roberts

Hickory lost against Slippery Rock back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hickory Hornets lost 64-38 to the Slippery Rock Rockets. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered against the Rockets since February 15, 2021.

Hickory's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kimora Roberts, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 10 points and six boards, and Ellie Ference, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave Ference a new career-high.

Cj Sabo was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds for Slippery Rock. Belle Miller was another key player, as she made all 5 shots she took racking up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hickory and nudges their season record down to 8-12. As for Slippery Rock, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Hickory wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-33 victory against Sharon on the 10th. As for Slippery Rock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-49 win against Grove City on the 10th.
