Basketball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Chico Panthers

The Christian Brothers Falcons will head out to challenge the Chico Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Christian Brothers will be strutting in after a win while Chico will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Christian Brothers beat Woodcreek 58-50. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Chico fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Foothill on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to the Cougars. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Christian Brothers will have to contain Josie Carlos as she made an impact in Chico's last game. She went 12 of 27 en route to 36 points and four steals. Those 36 points gave Carlos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Cawthon, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Christian Brothers pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Chico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.
