Basketball Recap: Hamilton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cesar Chavez

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). They blew past the Cesar Chavez Champions 77-53 on Thursday. With that win, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 53.7 points per game.

Hamilton was led to victory by Destinee Benway and Sage Henry. Benway posted 22 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Henry shot 42% from the field to rack up 26 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Henry's third in a row with at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Malia Romero, who went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points.

Hamilton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Cesar Chavez lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alex Ballard, who scored 13 points. Jenea Barksdale also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Hamilton pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 64.6 points this season. As for Cesar Chavez, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Hamilton has already played their next game, a 56-53 victory against Gilbert on the 12th. As for Cesar Chavez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-29 loss against O'Connor on the 12th.
