Preview: Tamaqua Blue Raiders vs. Jim Thorpe Olympians
Tamaqua is 2-8 against Jim Thorpe since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tamaqua Blue Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jim Thorpe Olympians at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, Tamaqua came up short against Lehighton and fell 44-31.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Lorelei Plasha, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Hope, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jim Thorpe, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They were dealt a 51-19 loss at the hands of Lehighton on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Jim Thorpe has suffered since December 15, 2023.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kiara Ginopolas, who scored six points.
Tamaqua's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Jim Thorpe, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-13.
Everything came up roses for Tamaqua against Jim Thorpe in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 56-26 victory. Does Tamaqua have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jim Thorpe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
