Softball Recap: Blue Springs Comes Up Short

Blue Springs extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-9. They fell 7-4 to the Staley Falcons. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lucia Trevino made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Keileen Burt was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Staley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Staley's side, Addison Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Ryleigh Kramer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Baker-Laster, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Staley will square off against Blue Springs South at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Blue Springs will be paying especially close attention to Staley's contest: after Staley faces off against Blue Springs South, they'll take on Blue Springs again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
