Baseball Recap: Westfield Bombers vs. Longmeadow Lancers

Westfield had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-11 to make it six. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longmeadow Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 back in April.

As for Longmeadow, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Longmeadow's part, the result came thanks to J Passonno's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Passonno.

At the plate, Longmeadow saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Walker, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Walker has posted since back in April. Another was E Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Westfield nor Longmeadow have any future games scheduled.
