Volleyball Recap: Canyon Lake Comes Up Short

Canyon Lake lost against Gregory-Portland back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Canyon Lake fell 2-0 to Gregory-Portland.

Preslie Owens paced Canyon Lake's offense, picking up six kills. Owens got some help from Chloe Gray and her ten assists. Chylea Gray controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Gregory-Portland can attribute much of their success to Sophia Davila, who had ten digs and two aces. What's more, Davila posted four assists, the most she's had over her last 23 games. Janae Castillo was another key player, getting six digs and three aces.

Canyon Lake has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Gregory-Portland, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Canyon Lake has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Akins on the 2nd. As for Gregory-Portland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Seguin on the 30th.
