Softball Recap: Englewood Comes Up Short

Englewood extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Alameda. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Alameda since Tuesday.

Alameda's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The game was the first time they have beaten Englewood on their field since September 3, 2020.

For Alameda's part, Annalia Lucero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Zila Bobian was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristell Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Englewood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-1 win against Platte Canyon on the 29th. As for Alameda, they have also already played their next match, a 16-3 victory against Middle Park on the 28th.
