Football Game Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Miyamura Patriots

Del Norte is 0-3 against Miyamura since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Knights will host the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Del Norte has given up an average of 36.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Del Norte lost to Valley at home by a 39-23 margin.

Despite the loss, Del Norte had strong showings from Kordell Erby, who picked up 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Nicholas Archuleta, who threw for 278 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (103 yards to be exact) also went to Payson Nelson.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Miyamura, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down Capital 28-12 on Friday.

Miyamura's win came from a few key players Del Norte will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carlos Garcia, who rushed for 91 yards and one score. Another receiver making a difference was Benjamin Vidales, who gained 84 total yards.

Miyamura didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Vidales and David Lujan.

Del Norte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Miyamura, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Del Norte was taken down by Miyamura 35-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' Sean Torres, who rushed for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries.
