Basketball Game Preview: Ramona Rams vs. Fontana Steelers

Having just played yesterday, the Ramona Rams will jump right back in to play the Fontana Steelers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ramona will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Ramona's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Thursday, when they got past Canyon Springs' usually-dominant defense. Ramona strolled past Canyon Springs with points to spare, taking the game 57-40. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ramona to victory, but perhaps none more so than Diana Najera, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. Najera is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. Jaiden Tibbels was another key player, putting up 23 points along with five boards and five steals.

Ramona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Fontana came tearing into Thursday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 45-41 W over the Sun Devils.

Ramona's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Fontana, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Ramona against Fontana when the teams last played back in December of 2018, as the squad secured a 57-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ramona since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
