Basketball Recap: Granada's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

The Granada Matadors were able to grind out a solid win over the Ygnacio Valley Wolves on Tuesday, taking the game 57-44. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Matadors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Wolves are ranked 585th).

Ygnacio Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaelyn Cox, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Machai Alston, who put up 17 points.

Granada's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Ygnacio Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Granada wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-36 win against Campolindo on the 11th. As for Ygnacio Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 91-66 loss against Bishop O'Dowd on the 11th.
