Softball Recap: Gatewood Starts Season with Victory Against Trinity Christian

Gatewood had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Trinity Christian Crusaders as they made off with an 11-1 win. This was payback for the Gators, who suffered a 5-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Riley Roberts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Roberts was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Gatewood let Lily Arthur and Natalie Sills run wild. Arthur went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Sills went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Riser, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Coming up, Gatewood will head out to challenge Bethlehem Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trinity Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crisp Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
