Basketball Recap: Lompoc's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lompoc entered their contest against Santa Ynez on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lompoc Braves took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Santa Ynez Pirates. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 38-25 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Lompoc still got an impressive performance from Tara Terrones, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Terrones a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lompoc smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Santa Ynez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Lapointe led the charge by putting up 15 points. Another player making a difference was Helina Pecile, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Lompoc's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-9. As for Santa Ynez, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7.

Lompoc has already played their next game (against Templeton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Santa Ynez has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Paso Robles.
