Baseball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Amboy Clippers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Norsemen of the 17-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Rylan Cass was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kiptyn Bleuer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Amboy, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Newark will square off against Ashton-Franklin Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amboy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Oregon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
