Softball Recap: Southeast Whitfield County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cartersville, Southeast Whitfield County was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Dalton Catamounts by a score of 8-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Chyann Blevins made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michaela Pendley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Piper Shoemake, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.

Southeast Whitfield County's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Dalton, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
