Basketball Recap: El Diamante Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tulare Union last Thursday, El Diamante came back down to earth. The El Diamante Miners had to suffer through a 75-27 loss at the hands of the Monache Marauders. The Miners have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

El Diamante's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rian Jones-Dillihunt, who posted 14 points and eight boards. Angelina Morales was another key player, putting up three points along with seven boards and four steals.

Milly Rojas was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds for Monache. The dominant performance also gave Rojas a new career-high in assists (eight). Kyah Bartlett was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points along with five boards and five steals.

El Diamante's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Monache, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

El Diamante didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-23 victory against Mt. Whitney on the 9th. As for Monache, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-33 win against Redwood on the 9th.
