Soccer Game Preview: Mason City vs. Waterloo East

Mason City has gone a perfect 4-0 against Waterloo East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mohawks will challenge the Trojans at 6:00 p.m.

Mason City fell victim to Roosevelt and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Roughriders, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Mason City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Roosevelt are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Waterloo East has been on a difficult stretch since their win on April 15. They and Columbus finished up their matchup with a 3-3 draw on Thursday.

Waterloo East's draw gives them a new season record of 3-16-2. As for Mason City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8-2 record this season.

Everything went Mason City's way against Waterloo East in their previous meeting back in April, as Mason City made off with a 6-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohawks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
