Basketball Recap: Chavez Comes Up Short

Chavez lost against Taft back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chavez Titans took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taft Wildcats. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shelby Gregory continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Taft, going 8 of 18 on her way to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. What's more, Gregory also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taira Leota, who posted six points and 13 boards.

Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Taft, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Chavez has already played their next match, a 65-26 victory against Kennedy on the 11th. As for Taft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-36 win against Wasco on the 6th.
