Baseball Recap: Central Victorious

Central was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rochester 4-3.

Ashton Binz looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Central's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-0-1 (and 10-17-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Liam Schultz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Central is 2-0-1 when Schultz posts three or more RBI, but 11-17-1 otherwise.

Central's win bumped their record up to 13-17-2. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Central will be playing at home against Jacobs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rochester, they will head out on the road to take on Coal City at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Coalers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
