Softball Recap: Jackson County Falls Short of Glynn Academy in the Playoffs

Jackson County and Glynn Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Jackson County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Terrors by a score of 7-6. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Adalyn Mitchell spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sofia McCafferty and Reese Wilson did some serious damage despite the final result: McCafferty went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Wilson went 2-for-6 with three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Peurifoy, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Jackson County's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Glynn Academy, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.

While Jackson County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
