Golden is a perfect 5-0 against Dakota Ridge since August of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Demons will challenge the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Dakota Ridge will be up against a hot Golden team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Demons' pitcher stepped up to hand Pomona a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lucca Merz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Daely Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dakota Ridge hadn't done well against Pomona recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Panthers. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Madison Drake made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Dakota Ridge got a big performance out of Avery Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Lexi Bortscheller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Golden's record now sits at 14-5. As for Dakota Ridge, their record is now 7-11.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Golden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .411. However, it's not like Dakota Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Golden took their victory against Dakota Ridge when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
