Basketball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Comes Up Short

Ironwood Ridge played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-28 loss at the hands of the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. The Nighthawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.

Despite the loss, Ironwood Ridge still got an impressive performance from Molly Walter, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Walter has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salpointe Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Williams, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayci Nelson, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Ironwood Ridge now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Ironwood Ridge will take on Sahuaro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sahuaro will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Ironwood Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Salpointe Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-53 win against Millennium on the 18th.
