Softball Recap: Cedaredge Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cedaredge entered their tilt with Moffat County on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over the Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-0 on Saturday.

Tia Homedew was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Kiera Stroh was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in August. Jewel Laliberte was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles.

Cedaredge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cedaredge's record is now 14-5. As for Moffat County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Cedaredge and Moffat County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bruins see the field they'll take on Rifle at 2:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Moffat County, their break will end when they face Middle Park at 4:00 p.m. on October 7.
