Baseball Recap: Limestone Comes Up Short

Limestone fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Canton on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Little Giants by a score of 2-1. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Little Giants earlier this season, when they won 7-1.

Gavin Klecker spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Limestone saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Long, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Limestone dropped their record down to 16-16 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Canton, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-21-1 record.

Coming up, Limestone will take on Springfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Canton, they will challenge Knoxville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
