Basketball Recap: Plumas Charter Takes a Loss

Plumas Charter's tournament run continued when they took on Butte Valley on Thursday. The Plumas Charter Warriors were outmatched by the Butte Valley Bulldogs and fell 49-22.

Plumas Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaycee Pew, who posted six points and 11 rebounds. Pew is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Joesph, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Plumas Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Butte Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kohen Thomas, who earned six points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Anderson, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points.

Plumas Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Butte Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Etna the next time they take the court. Plumas Charter will head out to face Etna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Butte Valley will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
