Baseball Game Preview: Treutlen Vikings vs. McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers

The Treutlen Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Treutlen will be strutting in after a win while McIntosh County Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Treutlen lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Telfair County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Trojans two weeks ago. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caden Parrish spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Acie Dickens was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact: Treutlen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, McIntosh County Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 10-6 to Jenkins.

McIntosh County Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Treutlen, their record now sits at 10-8.
