Baseball Game Preview: Union County Panthers vs. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors

For the second straight game, Union County will face off against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. Union County will be playing at home against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Union County had just enough and edged out Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 9-8.

Bo Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Maddox Patton was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Lane Haney, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Union County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.

The win got Union County back to even at 9-9. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
