Soccer Recap: Kennedy Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy took on West Park on Thursday. The Kennedy Cougars fell 3-1 to the West Park Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Panthers are ranked 144th).

Kennedy's goal came courtesy of Vianey Merchant, which was the first she's scored this season.

Kennedy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4-4 record this season. As for West Park, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1-1.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 5-0 win against Grant on the 21st. West Park has also already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Cordova on the 21st.
