Volleyball Recap: Delilah Murphy and Ava Renner Secure Win for Manzano

Manzano won the last time they faced Highland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hornets.

While Manzano won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-22, 25-12.

Manzano was led to victory by Ava Renner and Delilah Murphy. Renner had 14 digs and two aces, while Murphy had 12 digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Renner a new career-high. Allyson Haltom also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Manzano was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Manzano now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzano will challenge East Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Timberwolves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Highland, they will face off against Bernalillo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
