Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against the Marina Mariners, falling 55-9. While losing is never fun, the Spirits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1345th, while the Mariners are ranked 489th).

Marina found their leader in sophomore Shekinah Williams, who dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. Williams has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Borja, who posted nine points and five boards.

Notre Dame's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Marina, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame has already played their next match (against Gonzales), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Marina has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Monterey Bay Academy.
