Baseball Recap: Dougherty's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dougherty waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes by a score of 9-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Joshua Weaver made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden J Miller, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylen Still, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dougherty pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Monroe, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Dougherty will have a chance to go back-to-back against Monroe: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
