Basketball Game Preview: Conemaugh Township Indians vs. Northern Cambria Colts

The Conemaugh Township Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Northern Cambria Colts at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Township has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Conemaugh Township took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 51-39 win over Conemaugh Valley. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Conemaugh Township's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mayce Kordell, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Kordell a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Byer, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Conemaugh Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Northern Cambria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Portage 62-19. The Colts were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Northern Cambria's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Conemaugh Township, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Conemaugh Township came up short against Northern Cambria in their previous matchup back in February, falling 57-51. Can Conemaugh Township avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
