Softball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-8 to make it five. They lost 9-1 to the Dodge County Indians. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Chargers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Caylin Mathis was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

As for Dodge County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.

On Dodge County's side, Emily Jones spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Rylee Harrell was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Riley Graham was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Central has already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss against East Laurens on the 18th. As for Dodge County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-2 win against Northeast on the 17th.
