Soccer Game Preview: Big Valley Christian vs. Ripon Christian

Big Valley Christian is 0-3 against Ripon Christian since December of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Big Valley Christian Lions will look to defend their home pitch against the Ripon Christian Knights at 4:30 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Big Valley Christian's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They blew past Vanguard College Prep 7-0. It was an even better day for Elizabeth MacDonald as she scored three goals for her team.

Big Valley Christian was without their leading scorer, Faye Dobson, in Tuesday's game. With Dobson sidelined, Big Valley Christian had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Airyanna Galvan (40), Morgan Mensonides (40), and Mia Pimentel (40). The trio had averaged 17.5, 22.5, and 23 minutes respectively before Tuesday's match.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Ripon Christian made sure to put some goals up on the board against Hughson last Friday. Everything went their way against the Huskies as they made off with a 4-0 win. Considering the Knights have won four games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ripon Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Big Valley Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Big Valley Christian came up short against Ripon Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Big Valley Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
