Basketball Game Preview: South Spartans vs. Highland Scots

South hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The South Spartans will head out to take on the Highland Scots at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, South earned a 39-27 victory over Garces Memorial.

Meanwhile, Highland waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 win over the Tigers. The Scots pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

South's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 15.3 points per game. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Everything went South's way against Highland in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as South made off with a 35-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
