Basketball Recap: Pine Bluffs Comes Up Short

If Pine Bluffs was feeling good fresh off their 72-34 takedown of Mitchell on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost to the Bridgeport Bulldogs on the road by a 57-41 margin on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Bridgeport got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Brown out in front who almost dropped a triple-double with 21 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Brown has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played. Elizabeth Velazquez was another key player, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 22 points and four steals.

Pine Bluffs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bridgeport, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Looking ahead, Pine Bluffs will be home for the holidays to greet Palmer at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bridgeport and Hay Springs will compete for holiday cheer on Friday.
