Softball Recap: Gilmer Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gilmer extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 13-9. They had just enough and edged out the Adairsville Tigers 4-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-4 win back in August.

Braley Stewart made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaylee McDaniel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Gilmer lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

As for Adairsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since August 19th.

On Adairsville's side, they saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Baggett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Gilmer will challenge Calhoun at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adairsville, they will host Gordon Central at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
