Pueblo Central has gone 8-2 against Pueblo East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pueblo East will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Pueblo Central extended their winning streak to eight on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand La Junta a 6-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Mariah Romero's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Sophia Perez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Pueblo East came out on top against Pueblo South on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run seventh inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 13-7 win.
Luciana Cervantes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emilee Hutchings, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amilyana Chavez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Pueblo East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Pueblo Central's record is now 16-3-1. As for Pueblo East, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Everything went Pueblo Central's way against Pueblo East in their previous matchup on September 11th, as Pueblo Central made off with a 10-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
